The Don't Cancel Class Program is a presentation by the LMC Career Center and Employment Center when you (the professor) would otherwise cancel class because you are taking leave.
Services to faculty (you)
When you would cancel class (e.g. because you are ill or because of other professional obligations), you can ask Career & Employment center staff to make a Don't Cancel Class presentation to your students, instead. The Career & Employment center staff will meet with your class, take attendance, present a topic from those listed below, and administer a post-test to measure student learning. Afterward, Career & Employment center staff will provide you with a copy of the attendance record, all handouts, and a summary of students' post-test scores.
Topics
- Career development / exploration
- Résumé and cover letter writing
- Job search Techniques
- Interviewing Skills
- Business Etiquette
- Specialized presentation on, "What can I do with my major?"
- Other topics
Benefits to Students
The Don't Cancel Class series is presented in an interactive format. The classes utilize technology and today's student jargon to assist in student learning and participation. Most workshops are adaptable to any subject.
