Curriculum
You can find summary of the courses our department offers, along the the paths for students (certificate, associate's degree, and transfer) on the LMC math web site.
Course Outlines
Course outlines are available for download from this wiki, on LMC computers at P:\Course Outlines\Math\ and also from the Office of Instruction.
If you are teaching a developmental education (DE) course, please note the DE Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLO's). They might not be exactly what you are used to teaching, but they are built upon throughout our DE courses. Please talk to the math DE lead for more information and for help teaching the PSLO's.
Please compare the couse objectives on the department's course outline to your textbook and determine what to skip in book and what to supplement. The department has written supplements for Math 12, 25, 30 that you may find helpful. The Math 25 and 30 supplements are available in the bookstore for students to buy. The Math 12 supplements and additional material for Math 12, 25, and 30 are available on Blackboard. Please contact the department chair if you need a login and password for Blackboard.
Our department recently deveoped PSLO's for our transfer-level courses. Beginning Fall 2008, we will have a new Math 34 course outline that incorporates the transfer-level PSLO's. The next transfer-level course outline that we plan to put the new PSLO's into are Math 35, Math 75, and Math 40.
In order to ensure that students exiting one course have the skills and abilities they will need in the next course, our department has written common final exam questions (CFEQ's) for some of our courses. The department's CFEQ's are to make up 50% of your final exam. (You write the other 50%). We will also collect your graded finals so that we can assess student work across sections and improve our courses and programs.
Textbooks
Textbook requisition forms are due in early February and in mid March to the department chair. you will recieve blank textbook requisition forms in your box in MA1-141. The recommended textbook list contains all the information you need to complete your textbook requisistion forms.
Unstaffed classes
State law limits adjunct faculty to a maximum load of 60% districtwide. Exceptions are sometimes possible; see the "Overloads" section of the scheduling page. If you want to go over 60%, please speak to the department chair.
