• Math DE program review update, Fall 2007 due November 30.

Equity:

• Tue attended a conference on AVID. He explained a little more about AVID. The instructor of the AVID section (Karl Debro) will mentor the student through the entire AVID program. AVID here is entertaining the idea of having an all-male cohort which will transfer to Morehouse college (private school, only 26 units required).
• Idea for FT/Adjunct January flex: focus on the first few weeks and inspring underrepresented populations (Rick?, Tue?, Rich?, A'kilah?, Karl Debro? 30 to 45 minutes?). Also see University of Hawai'i first day tips. Tue will be the point person on organizing this. Who will facilitate?
• Some worry was expressed about divergence of multiple programs on campus (e.g AVID, UMOJA, etc.)
• We shared our strategies and experiences with trying to persuade students who have stopped attending class to come back.
